Eydhafushi’s Sobah declared best Maldives chef at Hotel Asia Exhibition Culinary Challenge
Abdulla Sobah, born to Baa atoll capital island Eydhafushi, has been declared the best Maldivian chef at Hotel Asia Exhibition which is the biggest international hospitality fair held in Maldives.
At the Culinary Challenge of the exhibition, which is organized by Maldives Exhibition and Conference Service (MECS) in the federal capital Male’, Sobah, who is the Sous Chef at Soneva Fushi resort island in Baa atoll, competed with 500 other chefs, some local but most of them foreign chefs from resort islands across Maldives.
Awards bestowed on Sobah:
– Faculty of Hospitality and Management Chef 2015
– Hot Cooking Lamb Gold
– Faculty of Hospitality and Management Best Maldivian Chef
– World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS)
Sobah obtained the awards after competing with 450 chefs from other resort islands of Maldives.
He said that he was not expecting such honors but that this was the highest point of his career so far.
“Very, very happy (sic). These are further opportunities to develop this career of mine,” Sobah said.
He has won similar awards before as well.
