Iyan and Malika win BAEC Quran recitation competition

Iyan Ali Waheed and Malika Ahmed has won the Quran recitation competition of Baa Atoll Education Centre (BAEC).

Iyan, from Baa atoll capital Eydhafushi’s Alithari house, won the recitation category after competing with 104 students.

Malika, from Eydhafushi’s Avidheyge house, won from the memorization category after competing with 26 students.

The two were handed over prizes by Villa College’s Senior Lecturer Ahmed Fayaz Hussain, at a special ceremony held on Thursday night at BAEC which is located in the atoll capital Eydhafushi island.

Other winners were also given cash prizes, commemorative shields and trophies.

Shamaail Mohamed Naseer came second in the recitation category while Fathimath Shammaau was third placed.

Aishath Shaiba came second in the memorization category while Fathimath Yumna Athif was third placed.

The competition, conducted from Thursday through Friday, was participated by 130 students.
