Glonet Education Fair to be held in Eydhafushi
The “Glonet Education Fair”, in the form of a roadshow, is to be held in Baa atoll capital Eydhafushi island on Saturday.
Glonet’s Managing Director Mohamed Naseem Ahmed said that the fair is a collaboration with Eydhafushi’s non-governmental organization (NGO) FEYLI.
The fair, aimed at Baa atoll islands, will be held from 1400 hours to 1700 hours at the Multi Purpose Hall.
Naseem said that higher education information will be provided by leading Malaysian universities where most Maldivian students are enrolled. They include Mahsa University, Taylor’s University and Sunway University.
“Information will be provided on opportunities of higher education. Students can also register at the universities. Application forms will be accepted and information provided on visa processing and lodging,” Naseem said.
Special discounts – from 10 to 50 percent – of tuition fees are offered to students who get enrolled at the fair.
Areas of study include health science, business, engineering and computer science.
FEYLI’s Vice President Mohamed Rasheed said that students from other islands of Baa atoll who are interested in attending the fair will be offered transport by contacting the mobile 9631111.
The fair is a venture by Glonet since 2005 to pave way for higher education. Every year Glonet holds two such fairs. The current fair is the second one this year.
