Goidhoo Youth Society’s Ishan “Sattu” Ibrahim has been declared Best Player of the Baa Atoll Football Challenge that concluded on Tuesday.

Sattu had put up a formidable performance as Goidhoo won the tournament without a single defeat.

In addition to the amazing goal he scored in the final, Sattu had scored a total three goals during the tournament.

While he paved way for another two goals, Sattu was also Man-of-the-Match of two matches.

This is the second time that Goidhoo won the tournament with Sattu in their squad, the previous time being 2014.

Fehendhoo’s Ibrahim Zayan was declared the Best Goalkeeper while under-21 Rookie was Fehendhoo’s Hussain Shifau who had put up another commendable performance.

Adam “Kithuna” Nizam from Goidhoo was the top scorer while the fair play team award was won by capital Eydhafushi.

While both Sattu and Kithuna had equal goals among them, Kithuna was declared the winner based on the minutes of play by both players.

Five islands were in competition this time around – Eydhafushi, Fehendhoo, Goidhoo, Kihaadhoo, Kuda Rikilu.

Organized by Eydhafushi’s U Sports, Baa Atoll Football Challenge is extremely popular as it offers an opportunity for aspiring soccerites to get scouted into the Maldivian premiere league or advent into professional football careers. U Sports also aims to use the extravaganza to revive the footballing spirit in the UNESCO heritage atoll.

The main sponsor of the tournament is Red Wave, with Araabee as co-sponsor. The catering partner is Eydhafushi’s Bella Vista Restaurant, while the telecom partner is Dhiraagu. Eydhafushi Times (ET) is the media partner once again for the tournament.
